Second(angle)-
A unit of measure for angles equal to 1/60 of a
minute.
Second(time)-
A unit for time, and one of seven SI base units, defined as the
duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the
transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the
caesium-133 atom at zero kelvins (also 1/60th of a minute).
Siemens- An SI derived unit of measurement for electric conductance, being the inverse of the ohm, named after German electrical engineer, Werner von Siemens (equivalent to the ratio of current, measured in amps, divided by voltage)
Sievert- The SI unit of absorbed radiation dose equivalent to 100 rem or 1 J/kg. It is named after Rolf Sievert, a Swedish medical physicist.
Spat- A unit
of solid angle measure equal to the sphere, 4pi steradians (this usage comes
from the Latin word spatium, space, since a solid angle of 1 spat covers all of
space surrounding the vertex of the angle).
Spin- A unit
of angular momentum used in particle physics equal to Planck's constant divided
by 2pi, or approximately 105.457 27 x 10-36 joule second (J·s) (the spin of an
elementary particle is always a simple multiple of this unit).
Statute_mile-
A unit of distance equal to 5280 ft or 1.609 km; also referred
to as simply mile..
Steradian- The
SI unit of solid angle that, having its vertex in the center of a sphere, cuts
off an area of the surface of the sphere equal to that of a square with sides of
length equal to the radius of the sphere (there are 4 pie steradians in a
sphere).
Stere- A
metric unit of volume, equal to one cubic meter or one kiloliter, about 35.3147
cubic feet or 1.30795 cubic yards (although it dates from the origin of the
metric system in 1798, the stere has never been used as much as the
liter).
